A friendly is a match arranged directly between two clubs, outside any league or cup. It is the most sociable feature on the platform — and the fastest way to get a match without waiting for a fixture.

Challenge

Sending a challenge

A friendly request has four parts, and all four are checked before it sends:

What a challenge needs

  • OpponentRequired
Search for and choose the club you want to play.
  • FeeRequired
Minimum 1 LONIDA. There is no free friendly — a challenge always carries a stake.
  • Proposed dateRequired
Must be in the future, and not before 7 September 2026, the platform's official kickoff date.
  • ReasonRequired
Why you would like to arrange it. Required, like transfer and loan requests.

Two date rules, not one

A proposed date has to clear both checks. It must be in the future relative to now, and it must fall on or after 7 September 2026. A date next week that sits before the platform kickoff is still refused, which is the usual cause of a rejected challenge.

Incoming

Answering a challenge

Challenges from other clubs arrive in the same tab, and you accept or decline them. An accepted friendly becomes a scheduled match and appears alongside your other fixtures, so it will show in your upcoming matches on the dashboard.

Say why you are challenging

The reason field is read by a real manager deciding whether to give up an evening. "Testing a new formation, happy to play whenever suits you" is answered far more often than a bare request.

FAQ

Common questions

My date keeps getting rejected.+
Check it is both in the future and on or after 7 September 2026. Friendlies cannot be scheduled before the platform's official kickoff date.
Can I arrange a friendly for free?+
No. The minimum fee is 1 LONIDA.
Where does an accepted friendly appear?+
It becomes a scheduled match, so it shows up with your fixtures — including in the fixtures summary on your dashboard.
Will kick-off show in my local time?+
Yes, converted to the timezone set on your profile. If that is wrong, every match time you see is wrong.
Cancelling

Cancelling an approved friendly

Either club can call off a friendly after it has been approved — but approval already moved money, so cancelling is never just deleting a fixture. It is a second payment, and who pays what depends on which club is walking away.

There is always a cost

Cancelling costs the club that cancels a 10% cancellation fee, calculated on the original friendly fee. That is on top of anything owed to the other club. The fee exists so that an agreed fixture means something — without it, a club could take a fee and walk away at no cost.

The maths

What it costs you

The two directions are deliberately not symmetric, because the money is not symmetric. When a friendly is approved, the club that proposed it pays its fee to the club that accepted it.

1

If you accepted the friendly and you cancel

You took the fee and now will not play for it, so you hand it back and pay the penalty on top. Total charged: the full fee plus 10%.

  • On a 50 LONIDA friendly: 50 returned to them, 5 cancellation fee, 55 taken from your wallet.
  • The other club is made whole — their fee returns to their wallet in full.
2

If you proposed the friendly and you cancel

Your fee is already with the opponent, who did nothing wrong and keeps it. You are charged the 10% penalty only — billing you the fee a second time would take it twice for one fixture.

  • On a 50 LONIDA friendly: 5 taken from your wallet, and the 50 you already paid is not returned.
  • The cancellation screen shows the forfeited amount separately, so the 5 never reads as the whole cost of walking away.

You need the balance before you can cancel

The full amount — refund plus cancellation fee — has to be in your Lonida wallet. If it is not, the cancellation is refused and the fixture stands. Top up and try again.

Deadline

Fixtures lock 24 hours before kick-off

A friendly can be cancelled at any point up to 24 hours before kick-off. Inside that last day the fixture is locked and has to be played. A club that has planned around a match deserves more than an hour's notice that it is off — so the Cancel button becomes a Locked marker once the deadline passes.

The deadline is checked twice

Once when the cancellation screen loads, and again when you confirm. A fixture that crosses into the lock window while you are reading the confirmation will be refused at the final step rather than going through on a stale total.

Step by step

How to cancel

Cancelling spends real coin, cannot be reversed once it is on-chain, and takes a fixture away from a club that did not ask to lose it. It is deliberately a three-step confirmation rather than a single yes/no.

The three steps

  • Review the cost. Open Club → Friendlies and press Cancel on an approved fixture. You are shown the exact breakdown — the refund, the 10% fee, the total, and your current balance — before anything is typed.
  • Acknowledge what happens. Tick each consequence individually: the amount leaving your wallet, the match disappearing from both clubs' fixtures, and the other club being told you cancelled. Then type CANCEL to continue. You can add a reason here, which is passed on to them.
  • Confirm with a code. The final step needs your wallet confirmation code — email, PIN or authenticator, whichever you use for wallet actions. Nothing moves until that code is accepted.

Who is allowed to cancel

Cancelling calls off a fixture and spends the club's coin, so it needs both permissions: friendly access, and wallet access as the club owner or an Admin or Finance team member. A member trusted with friendlies is not automatically trusted with the wallet.

Notifications

What the other club sees

They lost a fixture through no act of their own, so they are told both ways — an in-app notification and an email, each respecting their own notification settings. The message leads with what happened to their money, because that is a manager's first question: either their fee has been returned in full, or they keep the fee you paid them.

The cancelled fixture stays visible in the Friendlies tab for both clubs, marked Cancelled, showing who cancelled it, what it cost, and any reason given. It is removed from fixtures and will not be simulated.

Can I cancel a friendly that has not been approved yet?+
There is nothing to cancel — an unapproved request has moved no money and created no fixture. The receiving club can simply reject it, and the proposing club is never charged.
Why am I being charged when they are the ones who cancelled?+
You are not. The cancellation fee is always paid by the club that cancels. If they cancelled and you had paid the fee, it comes back to your wallet in full.
I proposed the friendly and cancelled it. Why did I not get my fee back?+
The opponent accepted your challenge and set aside the date. They keep the fee because they did nothing wrong. You pay only the 10% penalty on top.
The Cancel button says Locked.+
The fixture is inside the last 24 hours before kick-off, or it has already been played. Locked fixtures cannot be cancelled and will be simulated as scheduled.
The cancellation was refused for low balance.+
You need the whole amount — refund plus the 10% fee — in your Lonida wallet at the moment you confirm. Nothing is taken partially; the fixture stands until you can cover it in full.
Does the other club need a wallet for me to cancel?+
Only when you owe them a refund. If they have never generated a wallet address there is nowhere to send it, so the cancellation is refused until they do.
